Yves Cote is the owner and founder of Bristol Auto Seat Covers. In
1955 Yves Cote's mother married Irving Cables of Cables upholstery
shop in Waterbury, Ct. Who later moved to Greystone in Plymouth, Ct.
In the former site of the Silas Hoadley clock factory which was
established in late 1800's. Yves learned furniture and auto upholstery
from his stepfather Irv.
During 1958 to 1961 he enlisted in the Army .
In 1962 Yves started his own business in Bristol as Bristol Auto Seat
Covers. Later added the name Bristol Upholstery because 90% of
business was furniture. 1972 The business moved to Main st. In
Terryville, Ct. At that point he got a dealers licence for used cars. Than
he purchased property across street in 1976.
Later Yves changed to Bristol A.S.C.inc. And sold used cars, did body
work and restored salvage cars. 1980 He purchased another property
on West Main st.in Plymouth where D and D's automotive is currently
located. In 1986 he decided to dissolve the corporation sell the
property to start a new venture.
That is the point in which Bristol Upholstery went mobile. Yves would
drive back and forth to Madison in the beginning with a 30 series box
truck, the following year he upgraded to a 28' motor home which
worked out better. From 1986 to 1996 he traveled back and forth from
Connecticut to Marco Island in Florida where he had a second home
during the winter and continued his business in marine canvas.
In 1996, Tired of traveling and the cost of a second home in Florida he
sold the house in Florida and than purchased his current location in
Plymouth Ct. At 305 South st., Which was
previously the Old Lake Plymouth Inn.
